EMPIRICAL ESTIMATION WAITING TIME OF URBAN PUBLIC TRANSPORT WITH THE PURPOSE ENSURING OPTIMAL FUNCTIONING ROUTE NETWORK
Abstract and keywords
Abstract (English):
The article is devoted to an empirical estimate of the waiting time of urban public transport in order to ensure optimal functioning of the route network. The survey provides quantitative characteristics of the relationship between estimated and actual waiting times. The obtained characteristics provide information about the arrival of the bus in real time at the stopping point. Data on the expected and actual waiting times of passengers were collected at stopping points not equipped with information boards. The analysis revealed the dependence of the actual and expected waiting time. The results show that passengers rate the expectation disproportionately to actual time. The implementation of real-time passenger information systems will help reduce perceived waiting times, which in turn will increase the level of transport services.
