The article examines the lacunae from the point of view of comparing Russian and Chinese languages, since these empty spaces are not detected outside the comparative analysis. Lacunae are usually considered from the position of linguistics and culture, as they contain the cultural information of the people and appear in the individual’s speech. In this article lacunae are described and characterized according to language tiers: from phonemes to syntactic constructions. The article gives an understanding that linguistic emptinessis the same part of the language system as other structural units
